A short list of things to remember
1. Make sure that you have all of the pieces before you start- we were missing the connectors to connect the panels to the main line back to the inverter. ADDED 2 weeks
2. Manufacturers are used to selling to re-sellers not direct - ie tax on 80k of panels and delivery was not part of original quote. ADDED 1 month to secure additional funding
3. The inverter specified does monitoring, need DSL line and P G and E needs DSL line or access for their cell phone. ADDED 2 weeks
4. It is a power plant at last moment need a 10 year warranty on all parts and labor for P G and E….pending
5. Commissioning agent canceled twice - PG and E end not called sufficiently in advance and then not able to hook up cell phone- ADDED 3 weeks.
6. Current status….almost all complete!
Photovoltaics the non “turn key” approach
We decided to go through the whole PV installation and PG and E rebate design and construction on our own rather than using a “Turn-Key ” approach. It has been quite a learning experience. We are almost done- I will have a complete list of actual costs for our 16KW system next week when we finalize our electrical installation. We started with the P G and E application almost 1 year ago….
We are hoping to get about $25,000 back from PG and E and about 20-25% of our energy
Where we are as of 6/5/08.
