Morgan Hill, CA
Located on the original train depot site of Morgan Hill, the new transit center was developed by the City of Morgan Hill Redevelopment Agency as part of the Cal-Train Park and Ride Facility. With ample parking to the right and left, it is the focal point for cars and motorcycles coming from around town and bicyclists and pedestrians coming down E Third Street from downtown.
The architecture blends seamlessly with the historical style of downtown Morgan Hill while adding contemporary elegance and function to the space. The 1,200 SF project includes a transit information center, ADA accessible restrooms, a snack bar, a clock tower, and 2 large canopies on the north and west side that make sure there is no shortage of shade and seating for passengers waiting to board the train. The seating stretches out to underneath the trees to allow the building and stream of commuters to enjoy of comfort and beauty of the area.
The landscaping surrounding the building and across the 1/3 acre site was designed for low maintenance, durability, and drought tolerance to reduce costs for the city.
